The countdown is finally over! The 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) officially begins tomorrow, Monday, October 20, 2025, with 147 schools set to clash in the preliminary stage of Ghana’s most celebrated academic competition.
Out of the total 174 schools participating in this year’s edition, 27 schools have already earned automatic qualification to the one-eighth stage by virtue of their stellar performances in last year’s contest. The remaining 147 schools will now compete across multiple contests in the preliminaries to secure a spot among the elite.
Running from Monday, October 20 to Thursday, October 24, 2025, the preliminary stage promises an electrifying display of intellect, teamwork, and quick thinking. Schools from all 16 regions will battle it out in a series of intense contests that will determine who advances to face Ghana’s top-seeded science powerhouses in the next stage.
Organized by Primetime Limited with support from the Ghana Education Service (GES) and key sponsors, the NSMQ continues to serve as a platform that celebrates academic excellence and inspires a culture of scientific curiosity among Ghanaian students.
